JOURNEY TO THE ANTARCTIC

Hi, I am Joe, a penguin of seven months. I live in the Antarctic region which is the coldest, windiest and most remote part of the world. I heard from my grandparents that once upon a time Antarctica was completely unknown to the outer world. Many explorers from 1773 had started coming to our homeland till now. But in recent years, researchers, explorers, scientists from the outer world comes here due to growing interest in the earth's environment and for doing many more activities. Antarctica is a region where greenery is very low in comparison to white. As everywhere is snow-laden, there are no trees nor shrubs. We rely upon Krill (delicious food for us), squids and fishes.
The oceans surrounding our homeland Antarctica are diverse and full of marine life. I enjoy swimming on the shores with my friends. No doubt, we are great swimmers. As Antarctica is situated in the southernmost part of our world, there are six months day and six months night. Yes, you read it right. In summer we receive 24 hours of sunlight a day for six months we receive 24 hours of darkness for another six months. In winter I love to see the light up in the sky. They dimly lighten our homeland. It's called Aurora. The night sky becomes very beautiful during winter. I am always eager to see this aurora.
Nowadays global warming has become quite threatening for us. Various activities of man are destroying our lives. If it doesn't stop soon, we will perish. Would the readers not like to help us? I know and am quite hopeful that the young readers who will be reading this, will surely find a solution to save our homeland, Antarctica. Some men are very nice. Last summer, one of my friends was seriously injured by a seal. Some explorers took my friend to Mc Murdo Station in Ross island. Within few weeks my friend was discharged. He looked completely healed. We were very happy to see him again. I was very happy and thankful for those explorers who helped my friend showing the best example of humanity.
